The planting of the trees in Sorgun forest started in Roman times. It is believed that this forest was planted in the period of king Attalos to protect fields of cultivation from sanding. All the trees in Sorgun Forest are on sand. Three kinds of pine trees in the region: Larch, Noway spruce, stone pine.

Between the years 1945-1955 state forest administration planted trees in the region, for the same reason: To protect neighbour land from sanding.

Many people use the forest for sports activities like tracking and horse riding. Besides, local people use the area to have picnic.

Eastern part of the forest is caled "Titreyengöl" Where the biggest bird registration centre is located.

The birds that take place in this exhibition has been regitered by scientists from Akdeniz University and Middle East Technical University. German Ornithologist also worked in this registration process.
